We are now Home Acoustics Alliance Level II Certified!

Nyal Mellor is now HAA Level II certified! According to Gerry Lemay, the founder of HAA, there are only around 40 people in the whole country with Level II certification! That puts Acoustic Frontiers in a very small group with the top acoustical designers and calibrators in the country. For more details on the curriculum of the Level II training please follow this link and then click on Level II Workshop on the left navigation bar.

Gaining Level II certification is a tough and time consuming process. First you must attend the 2 day Level I training, which Nyal did in January 2009. After this a test must be completed to gain Level I certification. The Level I training is mostly theoretical, dealing with sound quality, physics, measurements and acoustical design principles. Nyal then attended the Level II training in October 2009. Level II is 3 days of training in which a small team must acoustically design and calibrate a home theater system according to the HAA process. During the 3 days Nyal managed to turn an unlistenable, untreated and uncalibrated home theater into a world class music and movie reproduction system! The final step in order to gain Level II certification is to complete and submit a full design and calibration report on another system to the HAA. This last step ensures that each person with a Level II certification can 'walk the walk' as well as 'talk the talk'.

The HAA® is a professional training organization dedicated toward home acoustics. Its purpose is to promote the correct and most effective use of acoustical design and calibration techniques specifically for the home.

We hope that the time and monetary investment we have put into the training of our personnel proves our aim to be the premier acoustical design and calibration service in the Bay Area.
